12/8/2023 0 Comments Early medieval helmetsOnly at the end of the 19th and start of the 20th century, after extensive excavations of burial mounds, did helmets from the earlier periods of Russian history come to light. The main attention of research was previously focused on the helmets of the late medieval period stored in the Kremlins armory and other museums. Russian warriors were pictured in this helmet in the various works on the history of military costume 1. The Iaroslav helm was one of the first objects from which the study of old Russian arms and armor began. He stated that the armor belonged to Iaroslav Vsevolodovich, who abandoned the amour whilst fleeing from the battlefield of Lipetsk in 1216. At the Tsars order the President of Arts Academian Olenin identified and published the finds. The finds were deposited with the elder of the village, from him they went to the local priest and finally got as far as Tsar Alexander I. This was a helmet and chainmail compacted together. In 1808 not far from Uriev-Podolsk, at a small distance from the place where the battle of Lipetsk took place, one of the villagers while picking nuts in the bushes saw something gleaming. Those seeking to know about all thirty-seven of these helmets are encouraged to seek out his original work. Numbering used for helmets is that assigned by Kirpichnikov in his summary table, which provides details of their discovery, dimensions, and current location. Permission has been sought to reproduce these images on this web site, the translator and editor would like to thank all those who have generously provided their own photographs for our use. This English translation was prepared by Artem Nagorskiy, who also has collected new images and data to enhance Kirpichnikovs work. The latter volume includes a chapter on helmets, which forms the basis of this web page. Volume 1 comprises swords and sabres Volume 2 axes and spearheads and Volume 3 covers armour, plus the utilisation of arms and armour. Kirpichnikovs great corpus of Old Russian arms and armour was originally published in three volumes of Arkheologiia SSSR between 19. Translated and expanded by Artem Nagorskiyĭr. Historical Reproductions has been a popular choice for historic re-enactors because we sell Medieval armour and clothing that is made from traditional materials and produced and manufactured using the traditional process. The inauthentic version of Medieval armour can look gimmicky or they can be made of modern, synthetic materials. All the segmental mass and COM values obtained from the force plate method were within the range of those of the other methods for the entire sample. The proposedmethodwas tested in individuals with different body mass index (i.e., lean, normal, and obese) to verify its sensitivity. This study presented a simple force plate method that can be used to determine subject-specific segment masses and COM locations and compared it to otherwell-known methods. The present clinical methods are limited to similar populations from which the anthropometric measures were obtained. These inertial properties are estimated from methods involving cadavers or living individuals. Results suggest that one SAA per segment is sufficient to predict the dynamics of a biomechanical model of any degrees of freedom.īody segment masses and center of mass (COM) locations are required to calculate intersegmental forces and net joint moments using inverse or forward dynamics equations. A telescopic inverted pendulum model was adopted to analyze the balance control in rSTS using only predicted CoP and CoM. Using De Leva’s parameters in place of those estimated, RMSEs increase from 12 to 21 N (F X ), from 21 to 24 N (F Z ), and from 21.1 to 55.6 mm (CoP) in rSTS similarly, RMSEs increase from 3.1 to 3.3 N (F X ) and from 5.5 to 6.6 mm (CoP) in oscillatory trials. These predicted dynamic variables, as well as those obtained using anthropometric parameters derived from De Leva, were compared to actual FP outputs in terms of root mean-squared errors (RMSEs). After this preliminary estimation, the accelerometer alone is used to make quasi-real-time predictions of ground reaction force (anterior/posterior, F X, and vertical, F Z, components), center of pressure (CoP) and center of mass (CoM), during rSTS and postural oscillation in the sagittal plane. This paper proposes a 2D functional evaluation tool for estimating subject-specific body segment parameters, which uses a simple motor task (repeated sit-to-stand, rSTS), recorded with one single-axis accelerometer (SAA) per segment and a force plate (FP). 12/7/2023 0 Comments Aragami nightfall release datePlay as Hyo and Shinobu and use new Shadow Powers in a story campaign that will put your stealth skills to test.FeaturesPlay as Hyo or Shinobu in Aragami: Nightfall and uncover the fate of the last Shadow Assassins.Try 3 new Shadow Techniques to help you fulfill your mission.Play 4 new story chapters through winter valleys and decayed cities to stop a grim ritual.Play the Aragami: Nightfall story campaign with a friend in cross-platform online multiplayer. Transmission and prevention: HSV is contagious and may be transmitted by any contact with the blisters until the sore is healed. These techniques are ineffective and may actually make the sores worse. Note: It is not recommended to use steroid ointments, dye-light therapy, smallpox vaccination or vitamin therapy (unless a deficiency exists). A drying agent (e.g., 70% rubbing alcohol or Blistex ointment) particularly when sores first appear.Zinc oxide ointment used after crusts have formed.A moistened styptic pencil used several times a day. With topical ointments, there is no demonstrated proof of effectiveness with recurrences. Acyclovir (Zovirax) or valacyclovir (Valtrex), taken orally, may decrease symptoms if started within 24-48 hours after the onset of symptoms.Denavir (pencyclovir cream), a topical antiviral cream recently cleared for marketing by the FDA that may decrease the duration of lesion pain and accelerate healing. However, some medications may relieve pain and soften HSV crusts on the skin. Treatment: There is no cure for cold sores. For instance, if exposure to sunlight usually precedes cold sores by 24-48 hours, one can be fairly confident that sunlight is a "trigger" and one should minimize exposure. Identifying triggers may allow a person to prevent recurrences by effectively removing these factors. In many cases, the precipitating factor is unknown. Both strains have similar signs, symptoms and course of disease, and both are contagious so contact should be avoided.Ī number of factors can trigger the HSV virus, including sunlight, sunburn, stress, fatigue, other infections, fever, menstruation and intestinal upset. For example, HSV-1 infection can be transmitted from mouth to genitals during oral sexual contact. However, it is possible to have a HSV-1 infection below the waist and vice versa. HSV-2 generally occurs below the waist (e.g., sexually transmitted sores on the genital area). HSV-1 generally occurs above the waist (e.g., a cold sore on the lip). Two types of HSV: have traditionally been differentiated by location. It has been estimated that nearly 50% of children entering kindergarten and 90% of adults have been infected with HSV, although a much smaller percentage has experienced symptoms. Some infected individuals never develop cold sores because the HSV is never reactivated however, others may experience recurring sores several times a year.Ĭauses: Herpes simplex virus (HSV) typically causes cold sores. Most people with recurrent cold sores cannot recall having had the first infection they may have been too young to remember or the infection may have been very mild. Once reactivated, HSV travels down the nerve cells into the skin, causing its characteristic fever blisters typically in the same location. Symptoms subside after the initial illness runs its course, but the virus remains in the nerve cells until reactivated. Painful sores in or around the mouth may make eating difficult. After the blisters have broken to reveal a bright red area, they dry up, crust and heal within 7-10 days. These small fluid-filled blisters then become cloudy and pus-filled. Recurrences are less severe and the individual may notice a burning or tingling sensation 24-48 hours before a cluster of blisters appear. Symptoms of the initial infection are similar to those of other viral infections and may include fever, swollen glands, fatigue and multiple sores in the mouth and on the gums. Cold sores typically result from a viral infection called herpes simplex virus (HSV).Ĭold sore blisters can occur on many different parts of the body but are most common on or around the lips, cheeks, or nose and also (on rare occasions) in the eye. What are cold sores?ĭespite their name, cold sores (also known as fever blisters) are not caused by the common cold. They occur only inside the mouth, on the tongue or the insides of the cheeks, lips or throat. First infection may be inside the mouth, but cold sores generally appear outside the mouth on the lips.Ĭanker sores are gray or white sores surrounded by a red inflamed area. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Sweet home 3d tutorialDepending on your system, use the following instructions to download Sweet Home 3D and install it:Ģ 2 de 14 08/01/ :08 Windows: Download /SweetHome3D-3.7//download (32.7 MB), run the downloaded installation program, and follow the instructions from the setup wizard. Triangles form the eyes and nose, then a smile with as many teeth as you like will finish off this doodle. Draw a rectangular-ish shape on top for a stem. Then, add semicircles at the top and bottom to connect the parentheses. Make two shapes that look like parentheses with space in the center. Curving lines around the outside give the illusion of movement and surprise.Ĭan it be October without a Jack-o-Lantern? To draw one, we start with a basic pumpkin. (This is why you want to use pencil first!) Add ovals for the eyes and mouth, and of course, those rosy cheeks. Next, draw two arm shapes, then erase the spot where they join the body. Add a few detail lines and some color to give your candy a more realistic look.Ī ghost starts with a teardrop shape that’s slightly curved to one side. Depending on the kind of candy you want to create, you can draw a circle, an oval, or a rectangle. I find that adding rosy cheeks makes just about anything cuter, including eight-legged critters!ĭrawing a simple piece of candy starts with a center shape. Start by drawing an oval for the body, then four legs extending from each side. Real spiders are not my friends, but this little guy could be. Continue this same pattern, moving each layer of the web out a bit farther until you’re close to the ends of your lines.īlack marker is fine for this doodle, but it’s also a really cool effect to use a white chalk marker or gel pen on a black surface! You can also try using metallic markers for a shimmery look. Move out a little farther and do a second layer. Starting near the center, draw a curving line inside each “v” shape. Don’t worry about making them perfectly straight, spiderwebs are always moving in the breeze. Start by drawing a plus sign, then draw two more intersecting diagonal lines. If multiple canopies will be needed, a mould is almost always used. This type of construction is less precise, however, and each canopy is unique. Some one-off canopies are made in a similar fashion, but since a mould would be too time-consuming to make, the acrylic is heated and vacuum formed until it approximates the shape the builder is seeking. The acrylic is then trimmed to the appropriate shape and attached to an aluminum or composite frame. The air is then removed from the mould and the acrylic sheet is drawn into it, forming the shape of the canopy. A sheet of acrylic is secured to a female mould, then the entire assembly is heated in an oven until the acrylic is pliable. Most modern acrylic canopies are vacuum formed. Then the ejection seat and pilot is launched through the shattered canopy. In the event of an ejection, the explosive cord is activated first, shattering the canopy. To overcome that possibility, some aircraft have a thin cord of plastic explosive zig-zagging across the canopy over the pilot's head. In that situation, the pilot could possibly impact the canopy when ejecting. However, on some aircraft, such as the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II, the pilot may be forced to eject when in a hover, or when going too slow for the relative wind to move the canopy out of the path of the ejection seat. The relative wind then blows the canopy away from the ejection path. In most ejection seat equipped aircraft, the canopy is blown upwards and rearwards by explosive charges. The pilot cannot be ejected from the aircraft until the canopy is no longer in the path of the ejection seat. On many high-performance military aircraft, the canopy is an integral part of the ejection seat system. Ejection seat system A cockpit view from a BAE Hawk showing the explosive cord in the canopy Pilots remain skeptical of this feature, asserting that if the enemy is close enough to see the marking, they are too close to be fooled by it. This ruse was inspired by animals and fishes that have similar markings on the head and tail, so they can confuse other creatures. In the 1970s, US aviation artist Keith Ferris invented a false canopy to paint on the underside of military aircraft, directly underneath the front of the plane, the purpose of deception which was to camouflage the direction the aircraft is heading. It is still being used on most fighter aircraft.ĬF-18 Hornet of the RCAF displaying a false canopy The acrylic bubble canopy was used on aircraft such as the Supermarine Spitfire and Westland Whirlwind, which gave better all-round visibility and reduced weight and other advantages over the embedded canopy. Also, glass canopies were much heavier than acrylic canopies, which were first introduced shortly before the Second World War. The muntins reduced visibility, which was especially awkward for military aircraft. In the 1920s and 1930s, the increasing speed and altitude of airplanes necessitated a fully enclosed cockpit and canopies became more common.Įarly canopies were made of numerous pieces of flat glass held in position by a frame and muntins. Through World War I most aircraft had no canopy, although they often had a small windshield to deflect the prop wash and wind from hitting the pilot in the face. The pilots were exposed to the wind and weather, although most flying was done in good weather. History The raised canopy of a Van's Aircraft RV-7 A canopy's shape is a compromise designed to minimize aerodynamic drag, while maximizing visibility for pilots and other crewmembers. An aircraft canopy provides a controlled and sometimes pressurized environment for the aircraft's occupants, and allows for a greater field of view over a traditional flight deck. To compensate for the line drop, it would be lovely if we could reduce the turns ratio of the transformer to 9.5:1. With the 10:1 turns ratio on the transformer, the secondary voltage is 105 V. This means that the terminal voltage applied to the primary of the transformer is only 1050 V. Total line drop in the primary circuit is 150 V due to the volt drop across the resistance of the primary circuit (75 V+ 75 V). When current flows in the secondary circuit, things start to change. There is a potential secondary voltage of 120 volts but there is no current flowing in the secondary. In this example, the supply voltage and the terminal voltage will be the same value. 25Ω resistance in the primary is the resistance of the winding. For all intents and purposes, there is very little current flowing in the primary (in this case we will say it is negligible). In the image below, we have a transformer whose secondary is open. It might seem like a minor thing, but it's likely to trip them up from time to time, especially if they're too caught up in playing the "Which Formula Do I Use?" game (which is rarely as fun as it sounds). Some transformers compensate for line drop and percent voltage regulation by having multiple taps by which the volts/turn ratio can be adjusted. Also, combine these formulas with other geometric concepts and formulas that the students should already know.ĭon't forget to tell your students about the importance of units and how to convert between them! Volume is always in units cubed because we're dealing with three dimensions-so the conversions are also cubed, too. Once students have a solid understanding of how to use the formulas and which dimension to plug in where, they can work on applying these formulas to real-life scenarios where the dimensions aren't as explicitly stated. (Spoiler alert: they're really the same formula!) It might help to compare the volume formulas of prisms and cylinders, looking for similarities and differences. Students should know not only the volume formulas of cylinders, cones, and spheres ( V = π r 2 h, V = ⅓π r 2 h, and V = 4⁄ 3π r 3, where r is the radius and h is the height), but also have a basic understanding of where they come from. Might be time to round off the corners and get to know cones, cylinders, and spheres. They should already know how to calculate the volumes of simpler three-dimensional figures, like prisms and pyramids. Instead, your students can make use of the volume formulas. Plus, those little cubes get to be a drag when you have to carry them around everywhere. While you could always find the volume by counting how many little cubes you can fit into a figure, there's an easier way. Like area, but with an extra dimension added in. Students should understand that volume is a measure of three-dimensional space. You know what'll really get their adrenaline pumping? Let's go 3D. It's simpler, clearer-but, alas!-boring-er. Most of these geometry concepts are in two dimensions. If your students start to find these geometry topics a bit two-dimensional-well, they might be onto something. Know the formulas for the volumes of cones, cylinders, and spheres and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. |
